Seismic Risk Assessment of Urban Areas by a Hybrid Empirical-Analytical Procedure Based on Peak Ground Acceleration

The seismic risk assessment of existing urban areas provides important information for the process reduction in different phases planning and emergency management. Between large-scale approaches, a vulnerability index method is often used first screening buildings classification. However, this cannot fully predict effects specific action on buildings. This paper extends scale settlement properly upgrades methodology previously proposed by authors to damage restricted number masonry Croatian Kaštel Kambelovac located along Adriatic coast. approach based hybrid empirical-analytical procedure that combines indices with critical peak ground accelerations limit states computed through non-linear pushover analysis. procedure’s outcomes are computation relationship linking acceleration series states, corresponding limitation, significant damage, near collapse. described estimate terms selected return periods. general has allowed full whole Kambelovac.
